Transformation ~ a chapter from Going Expat Mexico about my move to Oaxaca
Interested in moving to Mexico? Check out my chapter Transformation in the newly published anthology by Janet Blaser, Going Expat Mexico. It’s my story about packing up my life in Northern California and moving to Oaxaca. Find it HERE at Amazon, both print and eBook.
“When I first came to Oaxaca in 2008, I immediately knew that this was ‘my place,’ and that I was meant to be here for the last third of my life. I knew this would be my forever home, to create an art life for myself again, where I have time and space to take my art as far as I can.”
“Moving to Oaxaca was a vivid dream for me for more than a decade. I have found my forever home for the last third of my life and it is the right decision for me. I never let the voice of “NO” persuade me to abandon my dream. I am supposed to be here, and I listened when Oaxaca called to me. And I would have done it if I had been single with no partner waiting for me, although it certainly has made it easier and quicker to integrate and I’m not lonely. I’m an immigrant, and I can proudly say I’m a “Oaxaqueña adoptada.”
